New energy tractor drives from exhibition to vast fields
At the Xinjiang International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition from May 25th to 27th, 2025, the popularity of new energy tractors is no less than that of the Wuhan National Agricultural Machinery Exhibition in 2025. At the same time, as it is a special agricultural machinery market, it can be clearly felt that domestic new energy tractors are really moving from laboratories and exhibitions to vast fields, which means that the era of commercial application of domestic new energy agricultural machinery enterprises is about to come.
1、 Subsidy policy begins to be implemented
The importance of the agricultural machinery purchase subsidy policy for new energy agricultural machinery is self-evident. Currently, the market price of 260-280 horsepower hybrid tractors is about 700000 to 900000 yuan, 300-400 horsepower is about 1 million to 1.5 million yuan, and imported 300 horsepower tractors of the same level are priced at 1.85 million yuan. Although domestic new energy agricultural machinery has a certain price advantage, it still has a very high consumption threshold for ordinary users.
At the beginning of 2025, Jiangsu Province was the first to announce a subsidy of 17.5 yuan for hybrid continuously variable transmission tractors with 200 horsepower and above. Subsequently, Anhui, Xinjiang, Gansu, Tianjin and other places also introduced similar policies. Shandong Province introduced more active subsidy policies, with subsidies of 170000 yuan for 200-260 horsepower models, 220000 yuan for 260-300 horsepower models, and 250000 yuan for top configuration models with 300 horsepower and above.
According to statistics, as of now, several provinces/autonomous regions in China, including Guangxi, Xinjiang, Shaanxi, Jilin, Hebei, Liaoning, Gansu, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia, Hainan, Qinghai, Heilongjiang, and Ningxia, have introduced agricultural machinery purchase subsidy policies, including hybrid tractors.
Specifically in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, in February 2026, the Xinjiang Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Machinery Product Quality Supervision and Management Station issued a notice on the selection of production enterprises and models for new energy hybrid tractor maturity projects, selecting 10 hybrid tractors from 10 enterprises including Changzhou Dongfeng, Hebei Kaite, and Lingong Agricultural Machinery to be shortlisted for maturity projects. In April 2026, the Agricultural Mechanization General Station of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs organized a kickoff meeting for the new energy hybrid tractor maturity project in Changji, Xinjiang. This also marks a new stage for new energy hybrid tractors from technological research to large-scale maturity and standardization, and also means that the boots of subsidy policies for new energy agricultural machinery will truly be implemented.
2、 New Energy Tractor Exhibition Zone
Encouraged by the good news of the launch of the hybrid tractor maturation and shaping project, tractor companies participating in Xinjiang this year have shown higher enthusiasm. According to statistics, at least eleven tractor companies exhibited hybrid tractor products at the Xinjiang International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition, with over 30 prototype machines on display.
In order to promote the commercialization of new energy tractors, an independent exhibition area was set up for new energy tractors in the best located three halls at this exhibition. It is said that this is the first time that a large-scale agricultural machinery exhibition in China has set up a dedicated exhibition area for new energy agricultural machinery.
In the exhibition area of new energy hybrid tractors, on-site visitors can see more than 20 neatly arranged new energy tractors waiting for users and the market to review. Among them are well-known models such as Lingong Agricultural Machinery, Hebei Kaite, Yingxuan Heavy Industry, and Yituo Dongfanghong, as well as new faces such as Junmadao MK3004-F, which are exhibiting for the first time.
In addition to the indoor centralized display area, the outdoor venue also exhibited more different models of new energy tractors, such as Lingong's full range of hybrid tractors, Hebei Kaite exhibited three hybrid tractors with 260-300 horsepower, and Huayue Xinjiang exhibited a 500 horsepower linked large hybrid tractor.
Combining indoor and outdoor exhibition areas, it is not difficult to find that the five major multinational agricultural machinery giants in Europe and America, namely John Deere, Case New Holland, Aico, Klaas, and Deutzfal, have not yet participated in the competition of the Chinese hybrid tractor market. The focus of multinational companies is still on power shifting and CVT models.
And 11 domestic companies exhibited 30 hybrid tractors, showing signs of technological diversification. Technological routes such as series hybrid, M&A hybrid, extended range hybrid, and power split can all be seen on the prototypes exhibited by the companies.
As an important promoter of the development of domestic hybrid tractors, Guangxi Yuchai has brought the YCK09-PD235 second-generation product IE Power hybrid assembly, which is matched with 260-300 horsepower tractors and adopts a power splitting technology route; The YCK16-400kW extended range hybrid powertrain can be matched with tractors up to 600 horsepower, while the YCK20-600kW extended range hybrid powertrain can be matched with agricultural machinery up to 800 horsepower.
It can be seen that Yuchai has also shifted from series hybrid to more diversified technology routes such as power splitting and extended range hybrid.
The divergence of new energy tractor technology routes has finally settled, and it still needs to be verified through large-scale field operations. The final result may be that different technology routes adapt to different operating scenarios and requirements.
3、 Field competition
The boots of the subsidy policy for new energy agricultural machinery are about to land, but companies cannot wait anymore. During this year's Xinjiang International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition, Shandong Lingong, Zoomlion Heavy Industry and other enterprises held large-scale marketing activities such as test drives, field demonstrations, and competitions, which promoted users and management departments' awareness of new energy tractors and accelerated the landing of new energy tractors from exhibitions, laboratories to fields.
Lingong Agricultural Machinery held the first "Million Energy Conservation Challenge" and national exhibition of new energy tractors, and the author was invited to participate in this event. Hundreds of guests, including industry regulatory authorities, local governments, research institutions, core users, media, as well as representatives from grain growers and agricultural machinery cooperatives, were invited to attend the conference. More than 20 hybrid tractors were exhibited and participated in on-site operations, many of which were said to be machines brought by the operators themselves.
The event site has set up dust tests, noise tests, traction tests, and fuel saving challenges. In the fuel saving challenge, the participating mechanic drove a 7E series tractor attached to a large plow and conducted energy consumption tests under the same operating conditions. Under real field conditions in Tacheng, Xinjiang, the Lingong T3004-7E series tractor achieved a fuel saving rate of 15% to 25%. After intense competition, the all-around challenge selected awards such as "Efficiency Star" and "Fuel saving Star".
During the exhibition, Zoomlion held a field experience day in the surrounding areas of Urumqi, organizing more than 100 local customers in Xinjiang to test drive and experience hybrid tractors such as DV4104 and DQ2604. At the batch delivery ceremony held at the exhibition site, more than 20 local grain growers took over the "golden keys" of DQ and DV series tractors, officially becoming users of Zoomlion's high-end hybrid tractors.
